The Bones of Appalachia
On a recent trip to the Appalachian mountains of Southwest Virginia, I began a winter project that I am calling “The Bones of Appalachia”. This phrase is one mentioned by a long time resident and singer song-writer of this area describing the mountains in winter and the beauty of creation.
The fractals of the winter trees in combination of the cloud covered winter sky create “the bones” of bare trees that are awaiting the return of spring.
Several of the images in this group are actually still in color without the aid of any post production creating the black and white image.
